End-of-Semester Checklist: College Edition

Hey there! I just finished up my spring classes, and I thought it would be helpful to share everything I do at the end of each semester. Here’s my end-of-semester checklist!

My End-Of-Semester Checklist: College Edition Blog Post.

Make Corrections

You know those critiques you’ve gotten from your professors? Take the time to go back and make the minor corrections now, especially if the work is something you plan on using in your portfolio. I finished editing my public relations writing samples, and I know they are worthy of sharing—more about public relations writing here.

Download Everything

Go back and download everything, just in case. I’m talking about notes, PowerPoint presentations, useful links, everything. I downloaded all of the helpful information my professors gave me regarding strategic campaigns that I want to have just in case. Is there a chance I may never reference the materials again? Yes, but my approach is that you never know when you may have to review something you’ve previously learned.

Back It Up

Now that the semester is over, I like to back up my computer and save all of my semester work on a flash drive. This is a simple way to digitally detox my computer and free up space. This also ensures I don’t lose any of my notes or projects.

Cancel Those Subscriptions

Don’t get caught paying for textbook subscriptions through the summer! Make sure you cancel your subscriptions or return those items. Personally, I just remembered I was paying $15 a month to rent a textbook on Chegg. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather spend $15 on something other than another college costs.

Give Thanks

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend going back and thanking your professors and completing their course evaluations. Bonus points if you submit a Rate My Professor review.

Connect with Classmates

This one might not be for you, but I like to connect with the classmates I talked to regularly on LinkedIn. Especially those who are in my major. This is effortless networking, and you never know when you might cross paths with these people again.

Personal Reflections

Being the goal-oriented person I am, I like to spend some time reflecting on each semester. What classes were my favorites; which classes did I dread? Were there study techniques that worked best for me? What didn’t work? What would I like to spend my own time researching or learning about?

Plan for Next Semester

This is the time to make sure you are all set for your next semester. Do you know what classes you are taking? Do you need to meet with an advisor? Get this done sooner rather than later.

Celebrate!

Cheers to you! It wasn’t an easy semester, especially during a global pandemic, but you did it. Now that my end-of-semester checklist is complete, I will be taking some time to celebrate and unwind. I hope you do too!

Cheers to summer!
